Hormones can cause fatigue, stress, low sex drive (libido), PMS, bone loss
(osteoporosis), mood changes, weight gain, and depression. Helping a woman with
these problems, usually requires hormone testing(blood, saliva, blood spot), and then
hormone adjustments. I use BIOIDENTICAL HORMONES, converted from plant
sources, that are identical to those the body provides for itself, like Estradiol, Estriol,
Progesterone, Testosterone, and DHEA. They come in various forms such as
compounded oral capsules, transdermal creams, gels, and patches.
Using BIOIDENTICAL HORMONE THERAPY my patients experience positive results, including increased energy, restful sleep, decreased hot flashes and increased sense of well being.
Hormones are oils; your blood is mainly water(serum). Because water and oil do not mix, blood testing can often give an inaccurate picture of a woman's hormone levels(balanced or imbalanced). Your 'oily hormones' are carried in protein pakages, called globulins, such as 'sex hormone binding globulin'(SHBG). Blood testing gives a measurement of the SHBG package levels in the blood, and this may not correlate to the hormone levels in a woman's tissues(brain, breasts, uterus, vagina and fatty adipose tissue around the waist). Salivary testing has been shown to correlate to the levels found in the tissues mentioned above. Performed at home, salivary testing, allows multiple levels to be taken in one day, kept frozen in the freezer, and is a simple pain free method to determine the hormone levels in a woman's tissue, where they are active and working. After a survey of her symptoms is obtained, and logistical data is provided, the samples and paperwork are delivered to the lab, ground delivery by UPS. The results are sent to our office and discussed in a office consultation with the patient approximately two weeks after they are delivered to UPS.
One of the most improtan supplements needed for men and women is Vitamin D3. I recommend the following daily doses based upon age:
Children(birth to 1 yr...500 IU/day 9 usual liquid drops)
Children(age 1-11)...1000 IU/day
Teens and Adults (age 11-40)...2000 IU/day
Adults over 40...depends upon a blood test, 250 H(hydroxy) Vit D
It is estimated that 95% of Americans are deficient in Vitamin D. I recommend an adult have a minimum blood level greater than 50; an ideal level is 65-85. The government agency, FDA, in 1974 set the range of normal for Vitamin D between 30...100. Most researchers have advocated the lower level be greater than 50 for the past 35 years. Elevating yor Vit D level will boost your Autoimmune System, which can decrease your susceptibility for colds, sore throats, flu, allergies, Breast & Colon Cancer in women, and Prostrate & Colon Cancer in men. Additionally, this level can help lower an adults tendency to develop hypertension, adultonset Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, LUPUS & multiple Sclerosis. Additionally, there is evidence low levels can increase weight gain tendencies.
